Telecom Italia Media, Cartapiú La7 Pay per view (PPV) on digital terrestrial network Telecom Italia Media started DVB-T broadcasting in 2005, offering pay-TV services with pre-paid rechargeable smart cards to subscribers throughout Italy. With a desire to address the market of analog free-to-air (FTA) viewers through PPV and PPT services, Telecom Italia Media needed a high performance solution to address the subscriber provisioning challenge. They therefore decided to implement Irdeto's Local PPV model, where the STB stores viewing credits in a secure purse in the smart card. With Irdeto's help, the service was introduced quickly and cost effectively and resulted in a successful launch of L-PPV and encouraging take-up thereafter. Telia Stofa DVB-Over-IP solution As Denmark's second largest cable TV and broadband Internet services provider, with over 600,000 homes connected across the country, Telia Stofa selected Irdeto in 2006 as their preferred CA provider for its DVB-C launch to the Danish market. Multichoice Africa Advanced security devices for new services MCA is a multi-channel pay-TV operator with 1.3 million subscribers spread over approximately 50 countries in Africa. With a desire to offer subscribers next-generation services protected by next-generation security, MCA chose to implement Irdeto's Secure Chipset solution to increase protection against control word piracy and device software tampering. Having worked extensively with chipset and device manufacturers, Irdeto saved MCA time and money by providing advice and pre-integrated solutions for the deployment. In 2008 MCA rolled out two types of advanced security devices and now plan to introduce more revenue-generating services on those devices. Esc 90 Telecomuniações Combining digital pay-TV and internet services ESC 90 Telecomuniaçòes, the Brazilian Internet service provider, has an installed base of 300,000 homes with an existing analog cable infrastructure. They planned to enhance pay-TV services over their existing network by providing digital television services, and thus grow revenue by 20% annually over the next three years. A top priority was to ensure their revenues are protected from content piracy and theft. Tu Media World's first Mobile Broadcast TV service In 2003 TU Media, a consortium of industry players established in South Korea, embarked on a mission to launch the world's first broadcast mobile TV service via satellite DMB (S-DMB). As a pioneer in mobile broadcasting industry, TU Media selected Irdeto to provide a service protection solution for their pay-TV services. Irdeto developed the mobile broadcast CA solution for TU Media, and combined it with several innovative, Irdeto-patented technologies to meet the highly constrained bandwidth requirements of the mobile environment.
